DS becomes an international celebrity
Doria was under attack and summoned to appear in court following the storming of parliament. She was being charged with the crime of lodging the petition in parliament and having forced the gates to enter the building. Both charges were trumped up and were a pretext to ‘take down’ the feminist movements of Egypt and put them in their place once and for all. Doria received support from many quarters, including women lawyers, who came to her defense, students who petitioned the King on her behalf as well as the international media that covered the story. This was a story that involved a glamorous woman standing up for the rights of all women in a Muslim country at a time of great flux around the world. Doria was now a celebrity both nationally and internationally and the case was postponed sine die.
